Mermaid Salt Vodka

Tasting Notes You know when you’ve spent the day on the beach with the sun on you face sand between your toes salt on your lips and happiness in your soul? Well it’s exactly that feeling The Isle of Wight Distillery have bottled in their Mermaid Salt Vodka. Although bartenders might not always tell you this a little salt is often added to cocktails to enhance the texture the flavour and that moreish quality. In a similar fashion a pinch of locally sourced sea salt has been added to Mermaid Salt Vodka. As a result the flavour comes in a pulsing rhythm like waves. Fresh sea spray salted butter and a smooth creamy texture beneath which lie delicate notes of dried herbs smoke and a little earthy grain almost as if the glass had been rinsed with Mezcal. It makes a stunning Dirty Martini and if you’re feeling adventurous try garnishing with a few dulse flakes. Alternatively create an extremely decadent Espresso Martini or combine it with tonic water and garnish with either lime and slices of red chilli or a few cracked peppercorns. As we all know mermaids come from the ocean and our seas are under threat from plastic. But the remarkable Mermaid Salt Vodka will not be adding to that because the Isle of Wight Distillery selects sustainable recyclable and biodegradable materials for their packaging and as such this environmentally friendly spirit is plastic free. It should come as no surprise that a vodka inspired by mermaids is so stunning as these mythical creatures are renowned in folklore throughout the world for their beauty. The Isle of Wight Distillery’s classic fish-scaled and wooden-stoppered bottle seems to have been frozen for this new small-batch vodka. And the contents more than lives up to the promise of that packaging. This is a superior vodka that sings as sweetly as a mermaid might to passing sailors. The Isle of Wight Distillery is the vision of two friends Xavier Baker and Conrad Gauntlett with brewing and winemaking backgrounds. Together they create a range of small-batch spirits. They laid down their first barrel of whisky in 2015 they’ve made a rum aged with oak from an old British Navy warship and their ‘mermazing’ gins have become firm Harvey Nichols favourites. If you haven’t already it’s time to dive in. Product Details Country: England Alcohol by volume (ABV): 40% Volume: 700ml
